ECOCERT COSMOS Certification and Logo Usage

Certification Types:

  • COSMOS Organic or COSMOS Natural: Each product can only hold one certification. The applicable certification is listed in the technical information provided with each product.

Brand Name Guidelines

Usage of “Organic” in Brand Name:

  • The term "organic" in your brand name is only permissible if all products sold under that brand are COSMOS Organic certified.

Medicinal Associations in Brand Name:

  • Avoid any medicinal associations, including terms like pharmaceutical, medical, healing, dermatologist, or similar. Do not reference doctors or medical professionals.

Product Claims

Organic vs. Natural:

  • Pay close attention to the percentages of “Natural origin of total” and “Organic origin of total” in the product information. Claims should align with the COSMOS certification.

“Free From” Claims:

  • It is prohibited to state "no/free from/does not contain" for ingredients such as paraben, silicones, sulfates, oxybenzone, mineral oil, phthalates, microplastics, artificial fragrances, and artificial dyes, as these are allowed in cosmetics according to EU Technical Guidelines.

Ingredients List:

  • If specific ingredients are mentioned on the label or packaging, ensure the correct key ingredients are listed as per the product information.

Design Guidelines

Gradients:

  • Own Gradients: To avoid gradient banding, process the file according to our guide [here](https://help.selfnamed.com/en/articles/8948046-fixing-gradient-banding-in-print-files).

  • Suggested Gradients: Use the suggested gradients from our Design Studio or work with our Design Services.

Design Quality:

  • Color Coding: Use CMYK colors for accurate color representation.

  • Resolution: Ensure the design resolution is 600 PPI.

  • Black Boxes: For 20ml size products, avoid black boxes as they tend to break at folding points. Opt for white or light colors.

  • Box Folding Guidelines: Ensure box folding guidelines are removed if creating your design in another program.

Volumes

US Market:

  • The volume of the product must be displayed on the front of the label and box.

EU and UK Markets:

  •  For products sold in the EU and UK, listing the volume on the back of the product within the technical layer is sufficient.
