You can sync Selfnamed product stock status (in stock / out of stock) automatically with your dropshipping store on any of the integrations we offer. It’s easy to set up but has a meaningful impact managing stock.
What settings do I need to adjust?
Go to your profile and find the tab called “Stock sync”. If you have multiple stores, you’ll need to set up stock sync settings for each of your stores separately.
Once you choose a store, you’ll be able to see several stock sync options. Pick the sync type you’d like to use (see descriptions below) and press "Save".
Stock sync options to choose from:
Option 1: stock status not synced
This option will be picked by default, as we can’t make the choice for you – we strongly suggest changing it. If you leave your stock settings as not synced, your customers will be able to place orders of products that we’re not able to fulfill. This will likely result in bad reviews.
Option 2: US stock sync
Products on your store will be synced with our US fulfillment center’s stock. This means that once a product you have added to your store goes out of stock in our US fulfillment center, it’ll become unavailable in your store as well.
Option 3: EU stock sync
Products on your store will be synced with our EU fulfillment center’s stock. This means that once a product you have added to your store goes out of stock in our EU fulfillment center, it’ll become unavailable in your store as well.
Option 4: global stock sync
Products on your store will be synced with both our US and EU fulfillment center stock. This means that once a product you have added to your store goes out of stock in one of the fulfillment centers (US or EU) it’ll become unavailable in your store as well.
It’s important to note that we currently don’t support dynamic switching between fulfillment centers based on where the order will be shipped. E.g. if a product is only out of stock in Europe, customers ordering to the US won't be able to order it either.
You can change these settings anytime.
Do I need to adjust anything on my integration?
If you use WooCommerce or Squarespace, that’s all you need to update. However, if you use Shopify, you need to update the app:
Open “Apps” from the sidebar in your Shopify account.
Find and open Selfnamed under your installed apps.
A “Update data access” pop-up will appear.
Press the “Update” button.
How do “out of stock” products look in my store?
Shopify
If you use Shopify and have enabled stock sync settings on Selfnamed side, you’ll be able to see stock status:
1. By opening Products in the sidebar – you’ll see a list of your products, and the Inventory column will either show 9,999 in stock for products in stock or 0 for products out of stock. Note that we don’t sync actual items in stock, so the 9,999 isn’t an actual number of items in stock, it just means that stock is available.
If you haven’t synced stock status, you’ll see “Inventory not tracked” in the same column.
2. When opening a single product, customers will be able to see stock levels under Inventory. It’ll show up similarly to the list view – 9,999 if the product is in stock, and 0 if it’s out of stock.
3. On your storefront, your customers will still see the products that are out of stock but they’ll be marked as “Sold out”.
4. Similarly, when a product that’s out of stock is opened, it’ll show as “Sold out” and customers won’t be able to add it to their cart.
WooCommerce
If you use WooCommerce and have enabled stock sync settings on Selfnamed side, you’ll be able to see stock status:
1. By opening Selfnamed in the sidebar and then Products tab, you’ll see a list of your products and their stock sync statuses. It’ll also show whether stock is being synced or not.
2. When opening a single product and selecting Inventory, you’ll see the selected product’s stock status.
3. On your storefront, your customers will still see the products that are out of stock but instead of “Add to cart” buttons, they’ll have “Read more”.
4. When a product that’s out of stock is opened, it’ll show as “Out of stock” and customers won’t be able to add it to their cart.
Squarespace
If you use Squarespace and have enabled stock sync settings on Selfnamed side, you’ll be able to see stock status:
1. By opening Products & Services and then Products in the sidebar, you’ll see a list of your products and their stock statuses in the Stock column. You’ll either see an infinity symbol (for products in stock) or 0 for products out of stock. Note that we don’t sync actual items in stock, so the infinity symbol just means that stock is available.
2. When opening a specific product, you’ll also see the selected product’s stock status.
3. On your storefront, your customers will still see the products that are out of stock but they’ll be marked as “Sold out”.
4. Similarly, when a product that’s out of stock is opened, it’ll show as “Sold out” and customers won’t be able to add it to their cart.
Do my customers see the actual number of products left in stock?
No, products either show as in stock or out of stock in your store.
How often does the stock status update?
Stock sync happens in real time. This means that when a product goes out of stock at Selfnamed, it’ll immediately go out of stock in your store as well. The same goes for when a product comes back in stock.
Does the stock sync work for all products?
Yes, we offer this for all products in our selection. So the stock status will sync for products that you have added to your store.
What happens if a product that’s in a customer’s cart goes out of stock?
If your customer has added a product to their cart and it goes out of stock before they complete checkout, they won’t be able to finish their order, as the stock status is synced to both your product listings and products already added to cart.
I have inventory tracking turned off, do I need to change it?
Yes, if you want to sync stock status with Selfnamed, you need to enable inventory tracking. You should only keep your “inventory tracking” settings turned off if you won’t sync stock.
What happens if I don’t enable stock sync?
If you don’t enable stock sync, your products will show as available in your dropshipping store even if the product is out of stock at Selfnamed. This means, your customers will still be able to place an order but we won’t be able to fulfill it. This will lead to disappointed customers and potentially bad reviews for your store, so we strongly recommend syncing stock status.
