Why does my dropshipping order have an “order error” status?

If you’ve set up order syncing with Selfnamed, once you receive a dropshipping order on your store, it gets imported to Selfnamed for order fulfillment. However, we require specific end customer details to be able to ship your order. If any required details are missing, your order will have an “order error” status.

How can I know my order has an error?

You can access your orders in your Selfnamed profile’s Orders section. You’ll see all your orders and their statuses there, including orders with an error status. This is also the place where you can edit orders and add the missing details.

Finding orders that have errors due to missing details on the integration side depends on the platform you use.

Shopify

On Shopify, orders that have errors will still show up as “In progress”. The information about the order having an error will only be visible once the order has been opened. Once opened, you’ll see a message that there’s action required on Selfnamed side. That’s why, we highly suggest relying on Selfnamed’s Orders section to keep up to date with your orders and their statuses.

WooCommerce

If you use WooCommerce, you’ll be able to see a “Missing order details” status for orders that have an error. If you see such a status for your order on WooCommerce, you’ll need to go to Selfnamed Orders section, find the order, and update the details there.

Squarespace

If you use Squarespace, you’ll find your orders and their statuses in the Selfnamed Orders section.

How can I edit an order with missing details?

If you have an order with an “Order error” in your Selfnamed Orders section, here’s how you can add the missing details:

1. Open the order

2. Press on the “Edit details” button

3. Once the editing view is opened, fill out the empty required detail fields – they’ll be marked in red.

Once you edit and save the details, the “Order error” status may take up to a minute to update – don’t worry if you filled out all the details but the status didn’t instantly update. You’ll see an “In process” message next to the Order total price – if it’s there, you can be assured that the details have been saved and are being checked by the system.

How to avoid dropshipping order errors?

There are specific order details that are mandatory for us to be able to ship an order to your customer. To avoid order errors, please make sure you’re requesting these details from your customers at checkout.

Missing details that lead to an order error:

  • Street

  • Zip code

  • End customer’s first name

  • End customer’s last name

  • End customer’s email address

  • End customer’s phone number
