Take control of what goes into your product. in collaboration with Cosmetics Nord, this service lets you choose a Selfnamed base product and customize it on two levels – the fragrance and the active ingredient composition. You tell us the scent you want and the active ingredients you'd like added or swapped out, and we handle the development from there.
Here's how it works:
Base selection: Pick a base product from Selfnamed's catalog that you want to build on.
Benchmark submission: Share the specific fragrance you want us to replicate. This is the direct basis for fragrance development – the more precise your reference, the better the result.
Ingredient customization: Tell us which active ingredient from our catalog you'd like added to the formula and what you'd like it to achieve with the product. If you have a proprietary ingredient you want to send us to use, we can evaluate it – you'll need to provide full documentation including technical data sheets, safety analyses, and any relevant certifications. Please note that using your own ingredients may extend the production timeline. Ingredients not included in our catalog can be sourced by us for an additional fee.
Samples: You'll receive up to 3 test sample rounds to evaluate. The first round is about confirming the overall direction – scent and how the added ingredients perform. The second is for fine-tuning. By the third batch, you'll need to make your final decision.
Stability testing: Once the formulation is confirmed, it goes through a 3-month stability testing phase. This ensures the fragrance and added ingredients remain consistent in scent, texture, and appearance throughout the product's shelf life, and that the formula meets the safety and regulatory standards required to bring it to market.
Once all the testing is done and the product is confirmed to be safe to sell, you'll receive up to 50 test products, depending on the volume of the product.
After that, you'll be able to place your first order – we'll align with you on the minimum order quantity (starting from 1000 units, depending on the product volume), and from there it's just a matter of waiting for fulfillment for your unique products. You'll hold an exclusive commercial license to sell the product, meaning no one else will be able to use or sell it under their brand.
Complete timeline: Starting from 4 months, depending on the complexity of the scent and ingredients, number of test batch iterations, and feedback cycles.
