How Do Shipping Profiles Work with Selfnamed?

Updated this week

When integrating your store with us, you have two options for handling shipping:

  1. Use the default Selfnamed shipping profile

  2. Create and use your own shipping profile

Whichever option you choose, we will still fulfill all your orders. The key difference lies in the control you have over shipping settings and what your customers can choose at checkout.

Q: What is the difference between the Selfnamed shipping profile and a custom one?

1. Using the Selfnamed Shipping Profile (default):

  • Your customers will be able to choose between Standard and Express shipping at checkout.

  • This setup requires no configuration on your end.

  • Ideal if you want a hands-off solution where shipping options are pre-set and flexible for the customer.

2. Using Your Own Shipping Profile:

  • You can create custom shipping rules, such as:

    • Offering free shipping if a customer spends over a certain amount

    • Reducing shipping costs for your customers and covering the difference from your product markup profits

  • However, only Standard shipping is available with your own shipping profile (Express is not currently supported).

  • You gain control over pricing and conditions, which can enhance your store’s branding and strategy.

Q: How do I set up my own shipping profile?

To use your own shipping profile, make sure to also select “Your Own” shipping profile in your Selfnamed.com profile.

For detailed instructions on how to set it up, refer to this guide:

Q: Which option is right for me?

  • Choose Selfnamed's shipping profile if you want to offer both standard and express shipping options without any setup.

  • Choose your own shipping profile if you want full control over shipping prices and promotional rules, and standard shipping alone is sufficient.
